The term natural makeup is easily interpreted differently between the client and the artist, here are my tips to make sure you feel comfortable and get your desired look at your trial:

  • Bring a photo of yourself that you love and a few inspiration images

  • Wear the makeup for at least 4 hours to see how it settles

  • Communicate your likes and dislikes to the artist before the application begins

  • Bring along with you any products that you use and feel comfortable wearing to show the makeup artist

Makeup artists will discuss different suggestions for you based on your skin tone/type and how it will appear on camera. Try to trust your makeup artist and remember that makeup is not permanent, so speak up if you’re unsure, it’s easy to adjust makeup and try different options.

STANDARD PRODUCTS USED FOR NATURAL MAKEUP

  • SKINCARE A light rehydrating face + eye cream

  • PRIMER The correct primer for your skin type will help to keep your makeup stay in place and look flawless

  • CONCEALER Possibly a little more than you’d wear daily

  • FOUNDATION It doesn't mean going heavy, a water-resistant base with buildable coverage is a great option

  • POWDER A super lightweight formula that won’t leave a powdery finish is best

  • BLUSHER/CONTOUR/HIGHLIGHTER It may sound a lot but applied correctly this will add colour whilst enhancing your face shape naturally

  • EYE SHADOW Cream or powder shadows highlight the colour and shape of your eyes.

  • LINER + BROWS Lightly smudged eyeliner + feathery brows will create natural definition that is a key part of bringing out your features

  • MASCARA + LASHES A trial is the perfect time to test out some individual lashes, they’re a great way of adding extra strength to your look without more makeup.

  • LIP COLOUR Try different textures and see what feels right for you, a great option is colouring in the lips with a waterproof lip liner and adding a sheer gloss on top
